The Old North Music Program
Old North’s lively and robust Music Program offers many wonderful opportunities for involvement. We welcome all to join any of our music programs; whether you are a singer or a ringer, no auditions are required.
We are please to announce our December Concert Series which begins with our annual Festival Chorus Christmas Concerts December 3 and 4. You can buy the Christmas Concert tickets online here or locally at Arnould Gallery, Crosby’s, or Spirit of 76 Bookstore, all in Marblehead.
Between the months of September and May the Senior Choir rehearses once mid-week as well as on Sunday mornings at 9 AM prior to the regular 10 AM worship service. The Senior Choir includes a range of enthusiastic singers with various musical backgrounds including professionally-trained section leaders.
For nearly three decades, 100 singers from both Old North and neighboring communities have gathered to presdent two holiday concerts during the annual “Christmas Walk” weekend in Marblehead. From October through early December, reheasals take place once mid-week; extra help sessions are offered on particular Saturday mornings.
The Ceceilia Choir, grades 1-3, and Parish Singers, grades 4-8 meet, meet on Wednesday afternoons from September to May and sing monthly at the 10 AM service. The program’s 80 children sing a wide repertoire from classics to music from around the world.
As part of the Festival Chorus the Parrish Singers join the other 4th-8th graders in the community to create a 50-voice youth choir. The children rehearse Wednesday afternoons in October and November, preparing a wide-ranging style of Christmas pieces.
Handbell and handchime choirs for children and adults ring for worship services on a regular basis. All that is necessary is a desire to make joyous music in our sanctuary. No previous musical training is required.
