The Gathering of Caregivers and their Loved Ones with Alzheimer’s or Dementia will be held on Thursday, March 21st 7-9:00 pm at Old North Church, Stacey Street, Marblehead. Please join us for conversation and support. Our feature this month will be an education program by the Alzheimer’s Association. Communication is more than just talking and listening – it’s also about sending and receiving messages through attitude, tone of voice, facial expressions and body language. As people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect. Join us to explore how communication takes place when someone has Alzheimer’s, learn to decode the verbal and behavioral messages delivered by someone with dementia, and identify strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease. Caregivers meet in the Great Room of the Old North Church office on Stacey Street. Care for your loved ones, a singalong with Dara VanRemoortel and other Old North volunteers is available across the hall in the Beals Room. This month we are asking people to RSVP by calling the Old North Church office, 781-631-1244. Also, please note this meeting is 2 hours in length, instead of the normal 90 minutes. We hope you can join us!
